The new Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX100 Digital Camera with built in 24-75mm Leica f/1.7-2.8 Lens & 4K Ultra HD Video is available now and in stock! I really want this camera and I think it would be a good replacement over my Sony RX100 which sits in my backpack pretty much everywhere I go. It's a bit pricey though coming in at $899, but I hear much of the guts are shared with the popular GH4 so the quality is definitely there.

more and more people start complaining about the moire this camera would have ... no idea how bad it is, but worth considering or testing before buying this camera.

No matter how many ways I look at this, I can never get past the fact that you're stuck with one lens. To have that nice 4k sensor and not be able to slap on a 50 1.4 or an 85 1.8 FD lens to shoot in low light, let alone the Voigtlanders, would simply drive me crazy. And the lack of 30 fps is obviously a marketing decision so as not to cannibalize GH4 sales this early.

@Bob
No built in ND but does have 43mm front threads ...

Looks like a great camera. The vid was interesting though, the coloring on the part shot with the lx100 looked orangey and weird.
The thing that they never covered in the video was the size comparison. Wearing a jacket is the only way to shove this camera into a pocket. The thing a love about the rx100iii is that I can put it in my pants pocket when I go out.
Does the Lx100 have built in ND filters?
The thing that really has me liking this camera is that it will record for 60 minutes. That's shweet!

Post author@Matt Green - It's not as full featured as Panasonic's GH4, but I don't see why they couldn't add that in a firmware update. Maybe they were in a rush to get the camera out during the Photokina show? I really hope they just launched early, and lately Panasonic has been on fire with new firmware updates on their GH4 camera. I'm hopeful they will provide the same attention to this little camera.

This looks enticing as a second camera, but Im only seeing 30p any idea if there will be an option to shoot 24p?

I saw a video demo yesterday, I was taken by the size seems like a great camera. BTW I have been looking for a replacement Flash Sync Cap for my GH3, would you know where to find one? Other than Panasonic. I talked to them, put on an "order" and it has been two months, nada.

Looks like Adorama got theirs a few days before B&H. I've had mine back-ordered with B&H for a while - can't wait to get it.
