Hunter writes in and shares one of his recent budget purchases. It's a collapsible 43" Light Disc with 5 Different color reflectors including white, silver, and gold. Perfect lightweight solution If you're looking for a simple, fast, effective way to throw some fill light onto a subject. It can also be used as a bounce when using flash photography, a small scrim, or light diffuser with continuous lighting kits. Follow the link to find some even cheaper deals if you're looking for something a bit smaller than 43". [Thanks Hunter]

5 in 1 Portable 43" Reflector

I buy everything off this site's recommendations -- this reflector being one of them. I am normally 110% happy I purchased. The reflector, however, I would pass on if I could do it over again. You know the saying "you get what you pay for"...I would say that normally on this site, that saying does not apply. But this reflector is very poorly made. Trying to get the reflector's cover to switch to a different color is very difficult. The cover barely fits over the ring. The material is already ripping. Save yourself the money and spend a little more and get a legit reflector.

Just a word on these. I 'bought' one for my offer of $11.50 then was bumped to a paypal page that said payment was $99. After this the sale was retracted by seller saying they were out of stock. My takeaway? Just spend another $20 and get it from a place you trust.

No it's the diameter. It collapses down to a 1 and a half foot circle which is great for storage.

"circumference" 🙂
Barrett
Wait, scratch that, I'm not sure. It's possibly the length of the circle's outer length (couldn't think of a word for that).
Barrett
Yes, Tim.
Tim
Does 43" refer to the diameter?

I should give credit where credit is due...

Well this is interesting. Looks like some automobile window sun shades are basically the same sort of thing. Just a matter of getting the color you want. Most of the ones I'm seeing are two sided black/silver. Will keep searching 😉

One of these guys, from china, was like my first purchase for camera/video work (besides the camera itself).
I bought it 5 years ago and it still holds up. Some of the silver reflective is starting to wear off around the edges, but five years later and I spent like 17dollars on it. TOTALLY WORTH IT. this thing has been used on over 20 short films, interviews, corporate work... Incredibly useful and versatile for anyone looking to do anything. At least 1 "five in one" should be in everyones bag.
Eirik
how big are these?

I have one these. These are cheap and extremely helpful. Get one! 🙂

I bought one of these a bit over a year ago.
Personally, I don't like it very much. But, if you're wanting a bit of sun reflection then it's a great deal. Just beware that the material doesn't stretch evenly and tightly around the "collapsible plastic". About after 4 uses the plastic inside broke, it still works but is impossible to store now, unless I decided to break it more.
Not sure this thing is worth $10.

Am looking into the China based sellers on these... for the free shipping 😉
cowboystudio has them too but they are too pricey for the exact same thing. Same thing here with the Canadian sellers. No deal.
Thanks for the heads up!
