Aputure has recently released a new and larger LED Video panel. The New AL-528W (uses 528 LED bulbs) uses a digital brightness display to show output by percentage. Rotate the brightness wheel to adjust output from 10% to 99%.

Use the power adapter to power the unit through a wall outlet, or you can use the batteries (Batteries includes Sony F/FM/QM Series) when shooting outside and a Low power warning with red blinking lights when the batteries are low.

I'd like to know how these compare to the F&V R300 and R400 lights. The Amaran has more LEDs, so I presume the output is higher, but that may be a false conclusion. I'm mainly interested in the quality of the light output and build quality. The Amaran's battery features look more flexible, while the F&V products seem to be well regarded for their build quality.

I've had no problem using the Coolights 600s outdoors in daylight, close-up. I'm guessing the 25 degree spot version would give a decent accent outdoors.

So you would think that in strong daylight, you could use this light well for fill. I'm currently using the Yongnuo YN-300 and I'm quite impressed. I'd like something a little larger though that may have a bit more power and wrap, and it would seem that the 25 degree beam angle would do alright. Hopefully more info will come out as people start using these.

Emm couldn't respond and I found the difference from the website in case anyone is curious.
AL-528W = Wide Angle with 75 deg beam angle
AL-528S = Spot Light with 25 deg beam angle
AL-528C = Color temperature control (3200-5500k) so I assume this will have less brightness as it will have half LED for one and half for other color (again, assumption).
So which are you guys ordering? I have the W and wondering if it is good should i 1 W + 1 C more.

I bought two aputure 198 LEDs for $70 each (on ebay from last year). Yes some greenish tint but a 1/4 stop minus-green gel solves the problem. Man these thing actually are quite bright for their sizes.

LED lights are getting cheaper everyday! I'm impressed with the Yongnuo YN-300, you get a lot for your money.
I'd love to see a comparison between the F&V R300, the Yongnuo YN-300 and this new Aputure. I think these 3 are the best LED lights for the money.

@apostolos I got one of the $100 ones with battery indicators a while back and it had a greenish tint as well.
Looking to hear more feedback as well.

I got one of their smaller, on-camera LEDs which was $60 at a time, but it had a very strong greenish tint. If anyone gets one of these please let us know if they have a strong green cast.

NP batteries, lightweight, 85 CRI....I'd love to see how these compare to the CN-600s and the F&V K4000s.
On a side note I've read good things about the current and well priced F&V K4000s. But the new high CRI versions are priced at over 3.5x higher. Ouch! At those prices you could buy a Hexolux or Cineo TrueColor LS

This is interesting. I personally think we need to see LED lights that give off a hard light though. (to me the Hexolux and Mole Quantum Dot LED Fresnels are the most interesting LED lights coming).
Also they should tell us the equivalent of these lights (tweenie, betweenie, 1K baby, etc). Reason being most DPs know what they need in those terms, but LEDs leave an uncertainty.
LEDs are amazing and I use them exclusively. I just think the marketing needs to be fixed to make it easier for DPs to decide what they need/what will work.

That is nuts how small these things are getting! I've got a pair of 300 led Yonguo panels, and they're tiny. These look fantastic for run and gun shooting, much better than my massive V-mount powered 500 led panels I got last year.
