DJI today has made available their latest Gimbal Product - OSMO. The Osmo is a handheld system that allows you to use the DJI Zenmuse X3, X5 (Pro), or X5R (RAW) Camera + Gimbals.
Keep in mind that the OSMO is dedicated for use with one of DJI's cameras. While I think anyone with a DJI Inspire1 + X3 camera might be tempted to grab an OSMO, many still believe the quality of the GoPro HERO4 is still better (HERO4 certainly better in low light). You can already get a very stable GoPro HERO4 gimbal for less money, so I don't think I would personally use this for my X3.
But if you're looking at using an X5 or X5R DJI Camera system with your Inspire1, then I can see how this will add great value by allowing you to use it both on and off the Quadcopter. The DJI OSMO is already available to order on the DJI website (here).

I'd love to hear from someone that has this handle with the X5 cam, for ground videography. I do business and non profit video and at first glance this looks like a solution for a lot of projects, backed up by a regular camera on sticks that records the sound.

I already have a GoPro 3 black + 3-axis gimbal but decided to pick this up for the following reasons:
1. no more fisheye - tired of the gopro fisheye and having to fix in post
2. easier to match footage if you have an inspire or p3 - same camera
3. better UI on the DJI GO app than the gopro app when use as view finder.
4. automatic 360-degree panoramas through the app.
5. automatic rotating timelapses through the app.
6. phone holder + less lag (by report) than the gopro app

The author mentions the supposed low light capabilities of the GoPro Hero camera. I own both the Hero 4 and the Sony Action Cam 4K. First... note that the GoPro Hero cameras use Sony CCD technology. Secondly, there is no benefit of the Hero over the Sony Action Cam other than a great deal of accessories (which Sony has caught up with).
I own a Feiyu 3-axis Gimbal for both the Hero 4 and the Sony Action Cam. You easily spend the equivalent of buying this DJI device when buying the $300 Feiyu gimbal + either the GoPro or Sony Action Cam. In fact, I would say you would save money.
I will reserve my true opinion until I've had the chance to order the DJI product. I do quite a bit of cycling related activities and most in the cycling world prefer the sony action cam because of its aerodynamic features. To be honest, I prefer the Sony Action Cam because my video quality has been far superior to that of the GoPro.
Ultimately, this is an interested product. The way it can differentiate itself from Feiyu is by delivering more stabilization modes. Definitely looking into buying one here shortly.

@Emm – I couldn’t agree more with your statement. Silly launch tactic IMO. I guess I’m not their buying target. I fly both the GH4 and Inspire. The X5R is the only logical jump that I see at the present time. The X5 isn't that big of a jump from the X3 for aerial. I understand the angle of being able to adjust focus in the air. but.. The ground is where that becomes far more compelling for 99% of the stuff I’m working with. Meanwhile, I just continue to run around with the Ronin M.

I think with the x5R you could have (potentially) something that rivals a proper gimbal+DSLR combo shooting rawDNG vids (not to mention all of aesthetics of a larger sensor and faster lens). Without all of the crazy setup/weight and constant tweaking of a ronin (which I own). Trying to match footage from gopro or the DJIs current small sensor cam just doesnt quite get there IMO.
