There was certainly a lot of hype when AJA introduced the CION 4K/UHD and 2K/HD Production Camera back at NAB 2014, but I don't think it received quite the market traction they were hoping for. I'm not sure if it was the choice of PL Mount, the required AJA SSD Paks for internal recording media, lack of RAW, lack of a flat LOG Profile, or the price of just under $9K.

The camera does shoot RAW, externally! I've used this camera on commercial shoot for STP and it was good experience.
You can also order the camera with an MTF EF mount plate. It works great!

I like the form factor, weight and it fit on my shoulder nicely. The PL mount and expensive proprietary SSD paks made it a no go in 2014. Priced under $5K still a no go do to the high cost of media storage.

For me, I was taken back by the PL mount and proprietary SSD paks. Indie users always lament these more expensive requirements. Especially media. Look at SxS and microP2, understandably the camera makers want to assure minimum write speeds, but they could just state the fact as a requirement... not take an off-the-shelf commodity like SSD or SDXC and make an exclusive version with a high price tag. This is the same thing computer printers and label makers do with their ink and label tape, respectively.

I'm wondering if at that price, the lack of EF mount would make it equally unattractive. If you're a low-budget filmmmaker, you are going to use EF lenses, no doubt about it.

Its a nice camera remides me on the Alexa in alot of ways the footage is really good to bu the price should drop another $1500 - $2000
