If you're looking for a lightweight Carbon Fiber Monopod, here's a great deal. This Rokinon Carbon Fiber 5 section monopod is selling for just $39 + FREE SHIPPING (USA domestic). If you want to throw a monopod into your airline carry on bag, 21" is about the max length you should be looking for. This Rokinon is perfect since it can collapse down to just 18", yet extends to a max height of 65" inches. I've looked around for other deals, but could not find this type of minimum-maximum range in another Carbon Fiber Monopod at this price. It's worth taking a look at. Includes: carrying case for easy hands free transporting. Check it out via eBay (Click here).

Rokinon 65" Carbon Fiber Monopod with Carrying Case

Post author@misterkofa - Sorry if you found it to be too short, but I have to say that was an unnecessary comment. Here's that old video: httpss://cheesycam.com/velbon-ultrastick-monopod/
I think in both this article, and in the old article i've mentioned several times the max height and minimum height of each of these monopods. I've also written the specs in the article, and if you take the time to read the 'Specifications' tab on the product listings, it will state max height and minimum length. If you purchased it from my recommendation, and took the time to read the article or listened to the video, then these things would have been obvious.

Hey when you mention monopods, tripods, please note that it's rather short. Even this monopod which stands at only 5'5" is really short for some. I bought a velbon ultra stick based off your recommendation and it was way too short for me. I'm not even that tall, about 5'9 and I had to bend over just to use it.

Post author@Manny - This was a very nice monopod for the price I got it for, but it's not as good as the Sirui stuff.
Manny
@Emm How does this product compare to the Sirui P-306 or SIRUI P-326 ?

copped & copped.
Emm, I pray they don't block you from work.

45$ for shipping to Canada..

Post author@Sqweezy - It is not common, and this one will most likely not have anything to mount the foot. I am planning to work on a DIY solution to make this work for me.
Sqweezy
@Emm Is it common for monopods to include a 3/8" socket at the bottom to use in conjunction with that Benro foot thing, or is it more of a DIY thing? Do you know if this Rokinon monopod comes with it? Thanks!
Emm
Post author@Altimiradora - I'm not sure how long ago that was, but i've been around to vegas and new york a few times without a problem.

"...into your airline carry on bag.."
Question: Last time I tried to fly with a monopod, they refused to let my have it in my bag !!
Anybody had the same problem ? What's the rule on this ?
Thanks !
Bob Krist
@Emm: Great, I will look forward to hearing and seeing how the grafting goes. A good carbon fiber monopod with a usable tripod foot would be amazing. Thanks! Bob

@Emm : I guess free shipping is only for US residents, since people checking the listing from outside the US get charged $57 for shipping.
Emm
Post author@Derek - Those feet look perfect for a monopod. Since it has a 3/8" thread, it shouldn't be hard to get that to adapt to any monopod with a bit of DIY.
Here's another link to that folding monopod foot: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Hydraulic-universal-Three-feet-Support-Stand-for-Monopod
Derek
@Emm I'd be really interested in the foot as well. I ordered one of these hoping that I can do something similar. I found the $50 Benro foot thing but it doesn't seem to be compatible. This is the one I'm looking at https://www.ebay.com/itm/261161855600

Post author@Bob Krist - I'm actually working on something to mod the Rokinon monopod. It won't be fluid but it will be small ball socket tripod foot. Will let you know how that turns out as soon as the monopod arrives.
Johnny
@Emm Thanks for clearing that up for me. That Manfrotto monopod looks pretty sweet.
Bob Krist
Emm: I'll second Kelly on asking about the MoGoPod. Also, have you ever tried grafting that little ball and socket tripod foot from the Manfrotto 561 BHDV onto any other monopod?
I love that tripod foot concept, but I think that the monopods that Manfrotto puts it on are crappy, either too big and heavy or too light and flimsy. That little foot on a decent carbon fiber monopod would be amazing. I'm not hopelessly not handy, otherwise I'd try it myself. But I bet you could do it!
Kelly
When is that damn CarrySpeed MoGoPod coming out?!?!?
Sqweezy
@boxshooter Thanks, good to know. Would you know how the stability of the Rokinon compares with the Ultrastick? I am looking for the most portable option, but not at the sake of poor stability. Maximum height is not that big a deal for me. How much weight does the Ultrastick support? Any problems with your Rokinon?
boxshooter
@Sqweezy I have that monopod. That's the weight of the monopod not the maximum load. The maximum load 22lb.
Emm
Post author@Johnny - When shopping for a monopod it really is as simple as minimum folded length, maximum extended height, weight of the product, and how much weight it can support. One other option is a 'foot'. Some monopods have a larger foot like this Vanguard Elite (found here), or feet for additional stabilization such as the Manfrotto 561BHDV (found here).

Oh crap, 56 dollar shipping to Norway :'(
Johnny
Besides the minimum/maximum length and how many pounds it can hold, what is the difference between a cheap vs carbon(expensive) monopod? The stabilization seems to depend on the users hands/arms and there is no fluid head to worry about.
Emm
Post author@Sqweezy - There are other listings that don't have that information. I would say that was listed incorrectly.
Emm
Post author@seenematic - Not sure what you're referring to. I don't see that in the product listing. It still lists for free.
Sqweezy
The maximum load for this item says 1.4 pounds. Is this correct? Sounds awfully light to support any type of camera+lens combo. Could it be the specification for the product weight instead?
Greg
I bought the ultra stick like @Emm has, and love it for its portability. I keep it snapped onto my small camera bag and it never gets in the way. One problem is that I whipped it out too quickly once and a pin in one of the sections broke. Fixed it with superglue, but I would be careful about pretending it's a lightsaber and whipping it out too quickly while in a rush. Definitely get the suggested ball head.
seenematic
apparently shipping has changed to a whopping $56.40 !
Emm
Post author@Mr monk strap - It can accept any mini ball head if you need articulation. I have a few of these which are inexpensive but work great.

Mr monk strap
I see it doesn't have an articulating top. Do any other companies make a swivel or articulating top that I can attach between th monopod and camera?
Emm
Post author@Rob S. - Yes actually I use the ultra stick quite a bit, but it is much shorter at full extension (approx. 4ft.) than this Monopod which goes to about 5.5'. When I need to cover events and need the extra height i've been using an $80 dollar Carbon Fiber Sunpack Monopod, but it doesn't collapse short enough for my carry on luggage so I end up checking it in with my clothes luggage. The more sections in a monopod the smaller it can collapse. This Rokinon happens to be listed as a 5 section monopod and collapses to a very short 18" which will fit easily in any carry on roller luggage.
Rob S.
Emm, how do you think this compares to the Ultrastick that you've used in the past? Are you still using that or do you think this would be a better choice for a super light?
