One of the big purchases you'll need to make for the new Black Magic Cinema camera is a solid state drive. I opted for the 120GB Sandisk SSD to start out, but quickly realized I need more to support the RAW video mode. The Sandisk 480GB is a great option and currently lists for $345 Amazon (seen here). It's a drive that I think most people will end up buying if they are shooting with the BMCC.
This Sandisk 480GB is one of the SSD Drives recommended in the Black Magic Cinema Camera Manual, so if you're thinking about the BMCC, this drive is currently on sale for $300 dollars for the next 8 hours. Check it out via eBay (click here).

Post author@jigs - Yes they just drop right on to them using the SATA interface. I have not tried the Seagate Momentus XTs.
jigs
@emm btw, do the SSD's just drop on those thunderbolt desktop adapters?
one more thing: what do you think about editing on Seagate Momentus XT's?

@Emm
i have this particular one:

and a Crucial m4 256GB inbound tomorrow.
keeping my fingers crossed since my seagate is portable (as opposed to the desktop version)

The Sandisk SSD drive is the one you need for the BlackMagic Cinema Camera it works flawlessly. It doesn't drop frames or hang like another brand.

Post author@Dean - I have read the larger TB adapter does not have as many compatability issues as the smaller TB adapter. So far every disk I have plugged in worked perfectly fine.
Dean
Emm - any benefit to the desktop TB adapter? I have the smaller one but its hooked up to a spinning HDD..

Post author@jigs - Funny you ask. I am using a Sandisk 128GB SSD and Sandisk 240GB SSD for the Black Magic Cinema camera and I dock these Sandisk drives directly to a Seagate Thunderbolt adapter. It's crazy fast read / write speeds, and I see no reason why the largest 480GB would not work too.
I don't use the smaller Seagate Thunderbolt adapter, I use two of the larger one as seen here: Seagate GoFlex Desk Thunderbolt Adapter
jigs
Emm you think this would work on Seagate's Thunderbolt Portable Adapter?
