Here's a very quick introduction on the parts that come with the new Servo City MPT1100-SS Pan & Tilt System. The complete kit is already assemebled for approx $650 US dollars. To start operating, you plug in a 12V DC power supply into a joystick remote. Either use the included AC wall adapter, or use your own battery. All power and controls are sent over a single CAT6 cabling to the head unit - couldn't be easier. From the remote you can adjust max speed for the Pan and Tilt individually. The Joystick remote can also control speed depending on how far you maneuver the joystick. There is some noise at the highest speed, but when slowing down the movements the noise is greatly reduced.
Right now the design supports mounting to a 90mm bowl found on some jibs. I'll have to ask them about some of the more common smaller jibs that mount 1/4-20 direct to cameras or 3/8" Fluid heads. If you didn't catch the second 'auxiliary' input on the controller, this will support future upgrades to control other items. I believe they are working on motorized remote Zoom and Focus controls through this system. There's also a link on the product page to the User Manual PDF File. I suggest taking a look at this also. Post author@Steven - The feature to start/stop video through Shutter cable is only available on select Canon cameras. It will work on Canon 5D Mark III, 1DX, and I think T4i.

Hi Emm, do you think the Flashpoint LCD 8″ wireless monitor would be a good match for a crane? Does the flashpoint start and stop video recording or just do auto focus and take a photo? Would love to NOT run a HDMI or A/V cable.

Hi Kamil,
It is possible to make the controller wireless, but you will still need the controller that comes with the MPT1100-SS pan and tilt if you would like to run it wirelessly. Your R/C receiver will replace the PWM board inside of the control box and simply plug into the main control board. You will probably want to use a 12V battery inplace of the power supply in order to achieve full wireless control. The main control board will feed 5VDC to your receiver negating any need for a second battery. At that point you will have full control over the pan and tilt via your wireless transmitter. One question, do you think is it possible to make the control wireless? I have no idea if there is some cheap solution for some receivers etc for that cable connection.

Post author@Cody - No damping when you just 'let go', but you can slow it down by moving the joystick slowly to its neutral state.

Post author@Diesel - There are no mounting options for this joystick. Maybe a super clamp, or drill through the bottom handle? It's aluminum under the foam.
