From on camera LED lights, to wireless Audio kits, and portable audio recorders, there's something in your bag of gear that will require AA / AAA batteries. Here's a couple of helpful AA / AAA battery charger reviews that touch on smart-chargers which work on an individual cell basis.
This first video from @HDSLRNOW (follow twitter here) showcases the La Crosse BC-700 (also available in BC-1000) Battery charger. Can charge NiCad and NiMH AA and AAA rechargeable batteries simultaneously, featuring 4 modes: charge, discharge, refresh, and test, 4 separate LCD displays for simultaneous readouts, and offers Overheat-detection to prevent over-charging.

La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger
The next battery charger review from Shuttertastic.com is almost double the price of the small La Crosse, but this Powerex Maha MH-C801D offers a large LCD display with Eight independent slots, Selectable soft and rapid charging speeds, Built-in battery deep-conditioning system, and works with a variety of popular rechargeable batteries.

I forget which blog mentioned it, but I've been using a Tekkeon MP-1580 charger; it charges off a USB cable and can be used to power a USB cable. Been very happy with it so far (it's very small and lightweight), but I've only had it for a month and I'm not a heavy user.

The bc-700 is a great charger and cheap for its functions. Discharge and charge the batteries can take a full day.

I have the Maha. It is the perfect solution. Best batteries: Eneloop

I have the Maha. I don't bother with 4 cell chargers anymore - just not worth the trouble and for me a few used to be easily forgotten when I had a bunch of them plugged in. The Maha is great.

Post author@Scott - Nice way to stay organized. I actually took an entire Ikea Shelf and installed several outlets in each section. I have various battery chargers in each shelf and a single place to charge (and store) all my batteries. We also have sections for 'charged' and 'not charged' batteries.

I've been using a pair of the MH-C801D on my charging board (2'x2' square of plywood with all of my power bars & chargers screwed down to it) for about 6 months now. Love 'em. Don't know what I'd do without 'em.
